Vitamin C, which is also known as ascorbic acid is an essential nutrient for our body that offers many health benefits and since it is soluble in water we can take it as liquid vitamin C. Vitamin C is very essential for proper body growth, development and recovery of health. However, some persons may suffer symptoms of vitamin C toxicity such as loose motions, gastric troubles, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. As high concentration of vitamin C gets deposited in our intestine, it exerts an osmotic pressure on body fluids and attract as much water as it can and this causes abdominal cramps and other gastric problems.

While any other serious side effects of high doses of liquid vitamin C haven’t been observed, some rare side effects can be a little serious. As for example, high doses of vitamin C in postmenopausal women suffering from diabetes may cause some cardiovascular problems. However, such side effects are highly rare. On the other hand, the advantages of high doses of liquid vitamin C are very important. High doses are often prescribed for cancer patients by their doctors as vitamin C can be used to help against cancer. Vitamin C is a strong anti oxidant and hence it can be used for prevention of spread of cancer and it is also used to treat cancer.
