Vitamin C and Colds

Such fruits that are rich in vitamin C are strawberries, papaya, guava, acerola cherries, blackcurrant, oranges, lemons, water melons, kiwis, and some other fruits. All these fruits are tasty and luscious. Another way to defend yourself against deficiency of vitamin C and colds is to take and eat as much vitamin C rich vegetables as you can, and since all such vitamin C vegetables are actually very tasty, I am sure you will take and eat too much. The vegetables that are rich in vitamin C include broccoli, Brussels sprout, tomatoes, bell pepper, spinach, and other dark green leafy vegetables such as mustard green leafs, chards, watercress, and turnip green leafs.

While we know the relation between vitamin C and colds, there are a number of other advantages of having adequate or higher levels of vitamin C in our blood. Vitamin C is a strong anti oxidant and medical research reports suggest that higher concentration of vitamin C in a cancer patient’s body helps in preventing the spread of cancerous cells and tissues. This is why doctors prefer to prescribe high doses of vitamin C for their cancer patients regularly.
