Vitamin D3 Deficiency

This is the reason why a breast feeding mother should be very careful about her food intake and vitamin D3 levels as she not only has to take care of her vitamin D3 requirements but also, she has to confirm that her child may not suffer vitamin D3 deficiency which may cause rickets and other bone and muscular problems.

Vitamin D3 Deficiency in Adults
The requirement of vitamin D3 in adults is much more and on an average, a healthy person needs at least 600 IU of vitamin D3 per day regularly. This amount can be attained through proper eating vitamin D rich foods such as milk, margarine, and fishes like tuna, sardines, and salmon, egg yolk, cheese, orange juices and similar food items. Vitamin D3 deficiency in adults may cause bone related issues such as osteomalacia and osteoporosis. Furthermore, vitamin D3 deficiency may also cause psoriasis. A pregnant woman requires higher amount of vitamin D3 to ensure proper growth of child in her womb.

Deficiency of vitamin D3 may cause some serious problems in elderly people as at this old age, the bones and muscles of a person starts deteriorating and hence, he or she needs more calcium and other nutrients. However, in absence of proper levels of vitamin D3, the elderly person will fail to absorb and make proper use of calcium available in his foods and medicines. Vitamin D3 deficiency in elderly people may cause serious painful illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and very other issues. Vitamin D3 is also required to maintain proper functioning of muscles and nervous system and hence an elderly person suffering from deficiency of vitamin D3 may also suffer issues such as Alzheimer’s disease.
